Our client are a highly successful commercial law firm, headquartered in Australia, who are launching an office in Manchester and are seeking an experienced non-contentious Employment Solicitor with c. 6+ years’ PQE to join them as a Practice Leader.

They are recognised as a disruptor within the commercial legal services industry, having won many high-profile awards and assisted more than 150,000 businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
This is a unique role for solicitors who are tired of the traditional law firm model and typical route to partnership, there are no billable hours here and due to their defined sales program there is absolutely no need to business develop and market your services to potential clients.
The successful candidate will support clients with employment law matters including drafting and advising on a range of employment contracts, independent contractor agreements and workplace policies, advising on employee entitlements (inc. minimum wage and paid leave), restraints of trade and enforcement of restraints, advising on hiring and termination procedures and risks of claims, resolving employment grievances and disputes, and drafting, reviewing and negotiating on a broad range of commercial and IT contracts.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years’ post-qualification experience specialising in general employment law matters, gained within a reputable law firm or inhouse environment. As there is no expectation for you to bring in clients of your own, the focus at this firm is shifted to client retention and satisfaction. You must be commercially minded and enjoy working with businesses of all sizes and across different sectors. There is the opportunity as a Practice Leader to grow a team and so having the ambition to help build a practice and the ability to mentor more junior members of the team is important.
This role is to be based in Manchester, however our client are open to considering candidates who are based wholly remotely or on a hybrid working arrangement.
