Senior Data Privacy Manager – Leeds

A leading international Law firm are seeking a Senior Data Privacy Manager based out of their Leeds office to develop the firms regulatory risk & compliance controls, and take a lead in ensuring and promoting data security throughout the business. As a Senior Data Privacy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring data protection and information security compliance throughout their organisation, as well as advising on matters related to data privacy.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Raising data protection and information security awareness across the business,
  • Taking an active part in the implementation and monitoring of compliance with training requirements,
  • Ensuring that data protection and information security compliance is implemented into all new systems, policies and procedures,
  • Assisting with handling personal data breaches,
  • Monitoring and reviewing data protection policies and procedures across the business, with use of the firms in-house software,
  • Advising on internal queries,
  • Dealing with data protection & transfer impact assessments,
  • Assisting with the preparation of management information to report on compliance, and
  • Horizon scanning for legislative and regulatory changes that may affect the business.

Key Attributes required:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, or an interest to develop their risk and compliance expertise in the above.
  • Previous experience of working in a regulated industry, such as Legal or Financial Services is desirable.
  • The role requires discussions with colleagues at all levels within the business. The ideal candidate must therefore have strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to analyse information and provide potential solutions in a concise way.
  • Good attention to detail and strong administration is essential.
  • The ability to work under pressure, and efficient time management to meet business priorities.
  • The ability to work on own initiative, and manage own workload.
  • A good team player, who is supportive of other colleagues.
  • Able to respond positively to change, and adapt easily to new processes.
  • Good IT skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, although further training can be given if required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel is required. This could involve staying away from home.
