Probate/Private Client Associate, 9-12 month FTC

Our client is one of the world’s most reputable law firms and they are looking for an associate with up to 3 years’ PQE to join their Band 1 ranked private client and tax team on a 9–12-month FTC. The firm assists their clients in a variety of industry sectors, including real estate, manufacturing, motorsport, luxury brands, sport, hotels and hospitality, technology and many more. The firm advises on domestic and international tax, estate planning, succession and mental capacity laws in Europe, the US and Asia, as well as facilitating their client’s philanthropic endeavours.  Any experience providing similar advice to clients in the aforementioned sectors would be of interest.

The associate can expect to work with a broad range of clients, including professional and individual executors and administrators, banks, and beneficiaries. This role will generally involve all aspects of estates and succession work such as:

  • Probate administration
  • Preparing the appropriate inheritance tax account, statement of truth and all other required documents.
  • Legal research.
  • Document review and analysis, including preparation of estate summary and review lifetime gifts.
  • Preparing first drafts of Terms of Engagement letters.
  • Providing effective and proactive communication with clients, legal staff and other support staff.
  • Resolving account queries and produce monthly bills using Elite (finance and time recording system)
  • Participating in client events, as appropriate.

The successful associate will have excellent research skills and have the capacity to work as part of a team and under pressure. They must also have a strong financial aptitude (for billing), familiarity with Microsoft Office as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong academics and flexibility around working hours are a must.

It is likely that the successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor within England & Wales, or another commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia or New Zealand, for example) and have gained their post qualified experience within a leading International, City or West End firm.
