Private Client Lawyer (12 Month FTC)

Our client, a leading UK-based law firm is looking for a Private Client Associate within their dynamic Private Client & Tax team in London. This 12-month FTC opportunity allows you to contribute to their esteemed Private Capital Group, catering to a diverse range of clients.

Their client base consists of affluent individuals, family offices, trustees, financial institutions, and both established businesses and start-ups. Many of them operate in the technology, finance, entertainment, media, and sports sectors. Geographically, their clients are spread across the UK and abroad, with a notable presence in the Middle East and the US.

As an Associate, you will have the chance to engage in all aspects of our Private Client & Tax practice, and your role will encompass a wide array of responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with will drafting, succession planning, and establishing wealth planning structures.
  • Providing advice on inheritance tax, double tax treaties and related planning exercises.
  • Offering guidance on cross-border succession planning and legal matters.
  • Advising on tax residency, income tax, and capital gains tax principles.
  • Advising on legal aspects related to mental capacity loss, specifically preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney.
  • Offering tax advice on the setup, maintenance, and dissolution of UK residential property holding structures, covering income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporate tax, ATED, and SDLT considerations.

To qualify for this role, we seek an Associate with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE, qualified in England & Wales, possessing excellent academic credentials and training in one of the top law firms. Ideally, you will have prior experience with a firm excelling in private client services.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate technical proficiency, sound commercial judgment, and be available immediately or at short notice.
