Our client, a large full-service firm, is seeking an Associate in its Private Client team in New Jersey. The incoming Associate can work from the Florham Park or Princeton offices. This firm gives BigLaw quality work, without the BigLaw hours targets. Strong candidates will have at least three years’ of experience from a strong private client team at another law firm.
The team assist executors and trustees to carry out the terms of trusts and estates of all sizes, ensuring that stated goals and objectives are achieved. They represent individuals and corporate entities in the administration and settlement of estates, including probate proceedings and distribution of assets. They provide assistance with asset valuation, fiduciary income, and estate tax returns, as well as offer guidance to trustees on funding and administering revocable and irrevocable trusts in compliance with federal and state laws. In cases where questions arise regarding the interpretation of a trust, or when trustees and beneficiaries seek changes, even to an irrevocable trust, they provide advice on the available options under the laws of different jurisdictions. They also offer guidance to trust and estate beneficiaries, providing counsel on inherited assets, and advocating for them during disputes with other beneficiaries or fiduciaries.
This law firm is particularly known for its excellent training and support from Partners, and you are issued with a Partner mentor to help you transition up into Partnership, if that’s your preferred career path. Associates describe the place as having a ‘midwestern, friendly feel’ and the firm actively encourages a healthy work/life balance.
Big work doesn’t necessarily mean big hours. Up to 100 hours of pro bono and 50 hours of DE&I activity can be credited toward the firm’s 1,900 billable hours.
We will require a cover letter and a writing sample, as well as your resume and transcripts for this position.
Candidates must be qualified in the State for which they are applying.
