Our client is a major international law firm, which is well known for providing a full range of market-leading legal services across their chosen sectors. The firm is particularly well-known for their finance work, and highly rated for their Energy, Transport, and Real Estate sector practice.
These sectors are heavy users of complex and complicated financing methodologies, and to service these transactions, the firm has pulled together a team of three Partners with Magic/Silver Circle and US firm experience, to form a team which focuses on a broad range of DCM, Structured, and Derivatives-related financial products.
The opportunity:
The firm is now recruiting two additional Associates and/or Senior Associate. This represents an opportunity for a high quality finance lawyer with an understanding of aspects of Debt Capital Markets, Structured Finance, and/or Derivatives law to take their career to the next level with an ambitious international firm.
In this role, and depending on your experience and interest, you will have the opportunity to advise lenders and sponsors on a wide variety of banking and finance transactions, including structuring, documenting and negotiating transactions across the entire spectrum of debt capital markets products (including Eurobonds, EMTN programmes, investment grade products, convertible and exchangeable bonds, project bonds, green bonds, private placements and a variety of structured and other hybrid products). You might also (or instead) be involved in Derivatives work, specifically structuring, documenting and negotiating derivatives, particularly in the context of finance-linked transactions.
The majority of the team’s work is cross-border in nature, and they work across the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Clients include commercial and multilateral banks, E&P companies and trading houses.
You:
To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially minded Associate/Senior Associate Finance lawyer, who is confident with clients and understands how to service them and win business. You will be open to taking on a broad mix of finance work, but perhaps more importantly than your area of specialism, you’ll enjoy and be motivated by winning and working closely with clients and using a range of legal and financial instruments to solve their problems. This might suit an Associate whose desire for client contact and to grow their practice is stymied at their current firm, an Associate who has outgrown their current firm, or one who has been unwillingly pigeonholed to work in only one area of finance.
The team is open as to background and would definitely consider New Zealand or Australian-qualified candidates.
If you’re looking for a firm where you can be involved in high quality work, where partners respect your time and workloads, and where partnership is a realistic goal for those so inclined, get in touch to discuss this opportunity.
