DCM Associate – London

Our client is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious law firms.

Their small, collaborative, and diverse Debt Capital Markets team sits within the wider Corporate group, and works closely with banks, corporates, sovereigns and supranationals across a wide range of DCM products, including:

  • Investment grade issues
  • Emerging markets issues
  • High yield
  • Regulatory capital issues
  • Debt issuance programmes
  • Liability management transactions
  • Private placements

The team advises both issuers and managers on complex and innovative debt capital markets transactions in developed and emerging markets.

Unusually for a DCM team at such a large firm, in this role you will do a mix of advisory and transactional work. It is envisaged that the person in this role’s diet will be around 80% transactional, but there will be some advisory content assisting the firm’s big ticket corporate client base in the context of M&A activity.

Also unusually for a DCM team, this team isn’t siloed like some of its rivals; the team collaborates with other parts of the firm, offering a holistic treasury experience for clients and enabling Associates to understand transactions and their clients better. This lets Associates understand a broader part of their clients’ businesses than just the narrow black-letter law around a specific deal.

This is a tremendous opportunity to work with a small, specialist, and cohesive team within a far larger entity. In order to be considered for this role you will have:

  • Trained and gained 2-4 years’ relevant post -qualification experience at a City or international firm;
  • Detailed knowledge of the law pertaining to Debt Capital Markets, and broad understanding of other relevant practice areas;
  • Advanced legal skills, including complex drafting, negotiation and project management skills; good people management and business development skills; and
  • Willingness to take initiative and embrace challenge with energy and drive.

Candidates with relevant equivalent experience from top tier New Zealand and Australian firms will be most welcome to apply, and this role will attract a generous sponsorship and relocation package.
