Our client is a major global law firm with an established and longstanding reputation in the UK, where they are headquartered.
The firm’s leading specialist Finance group boasts a strong and enviable client base of financial institutions, including leading investment banks, insurance companies, asset and investment managers, and institutional and corporate clients, including trustees and pension schemes. A number of their clients are involved in and require advice on the developing cryptocurrency space, including blockchain, DeFi, NFT, the metaverse, Web3 and general digital assets.
This is a new area of the financial regulatory market for everyone, and law firms are finding their feet along with everybody else. Our client acts for most of the biggest institutions in the industry as well as a number of the many start-ups, and have established a specialist Crypto industry sector team as part of their wider Finance group. They are determined to become the leading firm in this area.
To this end, they have assembled a mix of traditional private practice and former in-house lawyers to focus on the sector. All the team’s members have specialist knowledge of technical aspects of the Crypto space, both due to personal involvements and also having worked in crypto companies previously. There is a very close collaboration within the team – it is close-knit, supportive and an enjoyable place to work.
The Crypto team’s work is specialist and involves advising on crypto products and business models. Advice in this area is in demand, and as such, they are now looking externally for at least one additional ambitious and talented lawyer (probably around 3 years’ PQE) with a background in financial regulatory matters, as well as an interest in the cryptocurrency space, if not active experience.
As well as relevant experience (gained either in a law firm or in-house) and an understanding of the sector, it’s also important you’re ambitious to succeed. You’ll need to be eager to learn about this growing sector and committed to investing the time and care needed to improve your knowledge and skill. You’ll also need sound judgement and good interpersonal/consultancy skills; and the ability to communicate succinctly with clients and colleagues.
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Financial Regulatory Associate with an interest in Cryptocurrency to join a leading player in the sector. Lawyers coming from in-house will definitely be considered, as will foreign-qualified lawyers with the requisite experience.
