Court of Protection Lawyer. Top 50 Firm. 6 month FTC

Our client is a top 50 national law firm with a very strong reputation. They are currently looking to bring on board a Court of Protection Lawyer for a 6 month contract. The role is due to start imminently and can be fully remote within the UK or tied to any of their UK offices on a hybrid working basis.

The ideal candidate is likely to be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales or CILEX/FILEX qualified and possess upwards of 5 years’ experience in handling complex Court of Protection matters.

Successful candidates will be working closely with a senior member of the Court of Protection team on an array of high value, complex cases, and will provide legal advice to the clients and family members. The caseload will focus around the day to day management of Property and Affairs Deputyships and will also include:

  • The sale and purchase of property and other high value assets
  • Adaption projects
  • Preparing applications to the Court of Protection to include Deputy appointment, ACC, urgent applications and other applications for authority
  • Statutory wills

Any experience involving expert witness statements and international aspects would be beneficial but not essential.

Candidates will be expected to have a solid understanding of the new Professional Deputyship Standards, Mental Capacity Act 2005 (and its Code of Practice) and the Court of Protection Practice Directions.

The firm is happy to also consider part time working and flexible arrangements for this role. This role can be fully remote within the UK, although they would also be happy to accommodate time in the office should this be desired.

Due to the imminent start date, candidates should ideally be available immediately or at short notice.
