Our client is an elite law firm, which is looking for a corporate associate to join their tech team on a 6–12-month contract. The ideal candidate will ideally have 4-6 years’ PQE and will be joining a team at the centre of UK’s thriving technology and venture capital sector for over a decade, advising on some of the most high-profile funding rounds in that time. On the investor-side, the team acts for many of the best-known venture capital funds both in the UK and globally. The technology team includes professionals from across the globe in areas including intellectual property, corporate restructuring, venture capital, employment law and finance.
The team’s comprehensive legal offering is designed to meet the unique need of entrepreneurs, a diverse range of investors and high growth technology companies in several industries including life sciences, fintech, cleantech, AdTech and emerging technology sectors such as blockchain, crypto, and artificial intelligence. With this role, you will act for a range of clients from entrepreneurs embarking on their first company to seasoned founders in the venture capital community. Experience advising clients in these sectors would be valued.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all aspects of corporate and venture capital work relevant to IP-rich, high-growth technology and life sciences companies.
- Overseeing and developing other members of the team.
- Advising clients on early-stage company formation and seed financings.
- Advising clients on later-stage venture and growth funding rounds, as well as exits and M&A
The successful associate will have at least 4-6 years post qualification experience as well as excellent academics and training in a well-regarded Corporate department. They must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work effectively in a team, and an enthusiastic and engaged attitude. Excellent technical ability and solid drafting skills are required, along with an ability to communicate and handle client contact (both internal and external) from the outset. Our client is keen to meet candidates who share their energy and excitement for this area of work.
It is also likely that the successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor within England & Wales, or another commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia or New Zealand, for example) and have gained their post qualified experience within a leading International, City or West End firm.
