Compliance Officer

There is an opportunity to join a major Middle Eastern energy company in their Qatar location. They are looking to enhance their corporate ethics and compliance programs to meet international standards. The right candidate will be a highly motivated, organised, and proactive individual, with at least 5 years of experience working in compliance, controls or in a legal capacity. This is an opportunity to develop and implement compliance frameworks for an already significant energy player looking to increase its standing and reach in the global market.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting to design, build and test internal and external compliance and ethics programs to ensure they meet international standards
  • Supporting senior compliance staff in the implementation and ongoing development of corporate compliance and ethics programs
  • Working with Senior Counsel and other legal departments to manage internal and external enquiries, audits, and other regulatory filings in the countries where the firm operates
  • Ensuring the effective implementation and functioning of the ethics and compliance programs, developping and maintaining strong relationships with other departments
  • Helping to develop and implement KPI metrics to monitor, analyse and continually improve upon relevant compliance programs
  • Working closely with the legal department to provide compliance support to business development programs, corporate affairs, and infrastructure projects

Candidate qualities:

  • A degree in law or business and postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in compliance, governance, legal, audits or internal control functions
  • Analytical skill that enables the assimilation of compliance and governance matters to advise personnel outside of the legal space
