Capital Markets and Securities Associate – Chicago

Our client, a large mid-market full-service firm is seeking a junior Associate in its Capital Markets and Securities team in Chicago. This firm gives BigLaw quality work, without the BigLaw hours targets.

We are looking to speak with candidates with one to three years of experience in corporate law, with particular experience in securities law advice and capital markets transactions.  Candidates should have specific expertise in securities and capital markets—in particular, familiarity with public company reporting obligations, public securities offerings, SEC compliance and corporate governance requirements, as well as debt and equity markets transactions. The candidate must have experience advising on reporting requirements, leading due diligence teams, managing specialists, and drafting documents.

The team provides a full range of services to public and private companies, private equity funds and financial institutions. If you are looking for an opportunity with a growing, collaborative firm, this is the place for you.

This law firm is particularly known for its excellent training and support from Partners, and you are issued with a Partner mentor to help you transition up into Partnership, if that’s your preferred career path. Associates describe the place as having a ‘midwestern, friendly feel’ and the firm actively encourages a healthy work/life balance.

Big work doesn’t necessarily mean big hours. Up to 100 hours of pro bono and 50 hours of DE&I activity can be credited toward the firm’s 1,900 billable hours. We found that Associates work about ten hours a day on average, which some felt would allow them to avoid weekend work.

We will require a cover letter and a deal sheet, as well as your resume and transcripts for this position.

Candidates must be qualified in a UBE jurisdiction, preferably Illinois.
